Ione Christensen was a force.
She grew up in Fort Selkirk, Yukon, in the early 20th century, and became a true pioneer.
Her list of accomplishments is dizzying. From becoming the first woman to be mayor of Whitehorse, to serving in the Canadian Senate, to being celebrated world wide for her sourdough starter, Ione Christensen was a singular person.
She died recently at the age of 91.
I had the chance to speak with Ron Veale about her extraordinary life, and we had a great chat, even though we really just scratched the surface.
